My Baby turns 5!

The Birthday boy's table. I had intentions of decorating much more but I was
in bed sick with a horrible stomach bug the day before and did not get it all done by the next morning.

Lego Maniac!

He is becoming a pro at ripping off that paper.

He was so excited to get the Crystal Sweeper Power Miner set. I love the happiness in this picture even if it is out of focus.

Doodle's 5th Birthday Balloon Release

As it is our tradition to do a balloon release in honor of the birthday person, doodle's balloon release was so sweet. Without a prompt, he picked out four balloons this time...."mama, the baby needs one too." We each wrote out a wish for doodle and tied to our balloon. My wish for him was that he will always be as happy and carefree as he is now....doodle wished to hit a home run over the fence....dad's wish was for a year of happiness and health...doodle made the baby's wish for himself which was...I can't wait to meet my big brother. So sweet that boy!

Releasing his balloon (red, of course, and the green one is the one he picked out for the baby)

We watched the balloons float away until they became tiny little specks and then disappeared. Doodle said with a smile when they were no longer in sight, "God has them now."

5th Birthday: "My Favorite Things"

Today you are 5!
You are a dreamer....an active boy....a great baseball player....doing so well in school.
You have the purest heart that I have ever met. You are compassionate, kind and loving.
All the same, you are all boy...rough & tough...you roll in the dirt & come in from playing smelling like a puppy dog. Your smile lights up an entire room. You add so much to the lives' of the people you know. You love Legos...you build for hours and hours. TV is not your thing. You have a sweet tooth and an expensive palate. You prefer Sushi over any other food. Of course, you fancy yourself on the most expensive rolls and we indulge you every time. Your family and friends play an important role in your life. You take school very seriously. When I keep you home with me b/c I have the day off you worry about what you are missing at school. You are so determined to read and doing a good job at it. You finished your 10 books before most children were on their 5th but you were disappointed that you were not the first to finish (Kendall finished a day ahead.) You love the beach and cannot wait for the pool to open up. You ask questions non-stop. You love to learn new things. You often get frustrated when you cannot figure something out. We are working on patience. You adore your father...it is his approval you constantly seek though you know he thinks you can do no wrong but underneath that, you are a mama's boy. I am your security, your safe base....a role that I so willingly hold. Each day you bring light and love! You, my darling, are our shining star! Happy 5th birthday love!

Pinata & Jump House

No particular party theme this year....we dubbed it "his favorite things." He knew that he wanted the biggest jump house we could find, a pinata and a baseball player cake. And...that is just what he got. At 5, a boy knows what he likes and why not let him have the party elements his heart desires even if they do not center around a theme. He had a big time!
The anticipation! The pinata is about to break open.

The jump house had a slide too....what fun! Weeeeee!

Spring Performance

A night of memories! Doodle's Spring Performance.
Location: Castle Hills First Baptist Church
Theme: Hawaiian
Songs: "Jesus Is" and "Let my Action Speak my Passion"
Teacher: Mrs. L.L.
April 30, 2009
They brought the kiddos in after everyone was seated in the auditorium. I approximate about 300 people in attendance. The kids bravely walked up on stage. They gave the parents about 5 minutes to take pictures before the program began. Doodle could not find us at first (he had no idea where we were sitting and he could not hear us calling his name.) He never panicked but was calling...."mama....sweet mama..." Finally we got his attention- a huge smile filled his face and he was waving and blowing kisses. He blew one kiss and said, "that is for (baby's name). He needed to know where I was at in the audience then he put on his performance face. The tears started for me when I heard him calling my name and stayed for the hour performance. I was so happy, proud, amazed, touched, etc.... He sang his little heart out!

Precious I tell you....absolutely precious!
